Invitation
Dear John,
Please join us for a stimulating learning conversation in our Connemara Café Dialogue
on 22nd July 2010.
These dialogue sessions bring together people development leaders in a series of
12-participant conversations to focus on important challenges they face in their
daily work. The dialogue is an opportunity to learn from others in business, share
perspectives and engage the issues that we face in the arena of leadership. These
sessions are offered as an opportunity to build a community of practice in an informal
environment that ignites quality thinking under the guidance and expert facilitation
of our Connemara team.
Conversation #1:
"Debunking Diversity Management: What makes it compelling and exciting for
all members of a workforce?"
Problem Statement:
Our society and business environment requires us to assist people managers to leverage
the untapped resources and contribution of our diverse workforces. This is an area
that has significant social, political and business imperative and is an essential
area of workforce development. However, this issue still does not receive quality
attention and is caught up in the haze of highly emotional communication, prejudiced
undertones and stagnation.
We will address some of the following questions:
•
What does leveraging diversity mean?
•
How is it relevant?
•
How does it impact our organization and teams?
•
Is the definition of diversity limited to race and gender in this country?
•
What can we learn from global experience on this topic?
•
What makes it difficult for people to leverage diversity?
•
Is there a business case for leading diversity initiatives?
•
What makes diversity initiatives succeed and fail?
•
What are the unique and individual challenges we face as individuals working in
the field of transformation?
